A Memo from the Teufel Family
Last month we asked if you would participate in a short survey to let us know how we are doing, and to identify areas for improvement. We sincerely appreciate all of the responses. Feedback (both positive and not so positive) is a valuable tool to guide us moving forward. For those of you who missed the opportunity to participate last month, we have included the survey again, here.
Our featured project this month (Rain, Rain, Go Away ...) is an exceptional outdoor living space. After experiencing the wettest June on record, I know that my family would make use of a similar structure. See if you agree.

Now that the weather may finally be cooperating, this is the perfect time to take advantage of the biggest plant inventory reduction sale in our 120 year history. More details can be found in the Summer Plant Sale article below.
Rain, Rain, Go Away...
This past spring most of us got our fill of rainy days. So how about creating something that allows you and your family to enjoy the great outdoors no matter what Mother Nature has in store?
For this active Sammamish Washington family, outdoor living was an important part of their life. In addition to frequently entertaining, they needed the additional outdoor living space for their teenage children and their many friends. The existing patio was limited in space and could only be used when the weather cooperated.

Vince Mack, our senior Custom Residential Landscape coordinator from our Woodinville operation, was approached with this challenge. We think you will agree that his national award winning solution could not be better. The addition of an outdoor covered pavilion with a cooking center and a dining and gathering area with a fireplace was envisioned. People can gather at the bar and talk with the cook, sit by the fireplace or on one of the built in seat walls, or at the dining table.

The client wanted access to the space without getting wet. We designed an arbor with greenhouse glass to cover the access from th
e indoor kitchen and family room to the pavilion. Radiant space heaters were strategically incorporated into the structure to supplement the warmth provided by the crackling fire. Actually, the fireplace also has built in gas for that instant effect when you just want to slip out to enjoy a glass of wine after a hard day at work.

Lighting and an outdoor speaker system set the stage for first class entertainment.
The outdoor kitchen is fully functional to be independent from the rest of the house. It is easy to see why the outdoor pavilion has become this family's favorite place to gather.

In addition to this structure, the Teufel landscape professionals also added a water feature, flagstone patio and sunken fire pit. Woodwork, stone, boulders and the plantings supported the NW woodland theme.
Sincerely,
The Teufel Family
