Calculating Quantities of Materials

UNITS OF MEASURE

Once the square footage is determined (see Calculating Areas) the quantities of bark, compost, feritlizer, peatmoss, seed and other materials can be calculated.

Many landscape products are measured in Cubic Feet (c.f.). 

Many bulk landscape products are measured in Cubic Yards (c.y.).

1 Cubic foot measures 1' high, 1' wide and 1' deep.

1 Cubic yard = 27 Cubic Feet  

1 Cubic yard = (11) 2.5 c.f. bags

1 Cubic yard =  (14) 2.0 c.f. bags

1 Cubic Yard = (7.3) contractor's wheelbarrows
