Holly Farm makes the Beaverton Valley Times

Operation holly-day cheer is in full effect at Teufel Holly Farms in West Haven and Cornelius.

Like the elves in Santa’s workshop, an army of more than 300 employees is hard at work creating 100 different unique designs of holly and evergreen wreaths, centerpieces, mantle and table runners, baskets, candleholders, boxwood kissing balls and more in time for Christmas.

A memo from the Teufel Family

Trust me – nobody better understands how busy the holiday season can be. Here at Teufel we are considered by many to be Santa’s helper, producing more than 300,000 individually hand crafted holiday products (wreaths, garland, swags, centerpieces, basket arrangements, etc.) that are displayed in homes and businesses across the country and over-seas.

An Informative News-Memo for Customers, Vendors, Business Associates and Employees

A Memo from the Teufel Family
Most of us look forward to the Holiday Season with anticipation. It is a chance for us to participate in traditions, spend time with family and friends, share some great food, and reflect on the fact that even though we are surrounded by bad news, we still have much to be thankful for.

Here at Teufel, holiday traditions run especially deep. After all, our family has been an active part of the holiday season for generations.

Looking back, I'm not sure OSHA would have approved of how young I was when I first helped out in the business. But those memories are part of why the Holidays are my favorite time of year!

A Memo from the Teufel Family

I'm actually looking forward to Halloween this year. After what we have all been through this past year, I know for a fact that I have already encountered the most scary thing out there ... the economy (made you shudder just thinking about it, didn't I?).

As with most things, once you understand something, it isn't quite as bad as it
first seemed. The stock market is recovering. Home sales are slowly returning
here in the northwest. And there have actually been a number of great projects that we have been involved with this year.

Here are just a sampling of the words of appreciation and support that we have received from satisfied customers and business associates in the past few weeks.

"It had been a few years since I had contracted with Teufel, but they have always performed on difficult or challenging projects. When it was time to build our new headquarters building with its tight schedule, Teufel was the first name I thought of. I know we made the right decision when we selected Teufel." -- Mike Nichols, Director of Real Estate and Facilities for Nintendo, Redmond, WA.

"Teufel Landscape has performed exceptionally on our projects in the Troutdale Business Center. The large, complex site conditions challenged them to excel beyond our expectations in performance, schedule and cost. Just a project of this shear size would have demanded the most from any landscaper. But Teufel met this challenge head on and staffed the project accordingly. Add to this that Teufel was a partner in developing solutions to challenges, not just presenting them. They have acted as our site partner, not just a subcontractor. Skanska would have no issue recommending
them to other owners and contractors to facilitate their project demands."
Gordon Childress, Senior V.P. Skanska

"We have worked with Teufel on countless projects over the years. No matter what size the job, or how complex the scope, the one thing we can count on is that Teufel always figures out how to meet or exceed expectations. Having Teufel on the job means that we all sleep better!" Mark Brumbaugh, Brumbaugh & Associates, Landscape Architecture, Seattle, WA.

Here at Teufel we could not be more proud of our contribution to these exceptional projects.

It really puts a smile on my face. Happy Halloween!!

Larry Teufel, President

Snow Removal: Being Prepared

SNOW. Is it coming early this year? Unfortunately no one can accurately predict when the first accumulation of snow will occur in our area. But it is not likely that any of us will forget last year and the shear volume of snow and how long it lasted. Fortunately for many of you, the Teufel Landscape crews were out in full force for the duration of the snow events.

Those of you who have already included service for snow events in your annual landscape maintenance contracts with Teufel can rest easy - you are at the head of the line. Anyone signing up for snow event service at this time will also be taken care of. Available services include:

· Snow plowing of identified roadways / parking lots for accumulations greater than two inches of snow.

· Hand shoveling of identified walkways / stairways for any accumulation of snow.

· Application of liquid ice melt to identified roadways / parking lots.

· New for 2009: "Pre-event application of liquid ice melt". We have found that an application in the hours before an event provide superior results in controlling potentially slick surfaces.

· Application of granular ice melt to identified walkways / stairways.

· Sanding of identified roadways / parking lots.

· Roadway / parking lot sand removal and post snow even clean-up.

Speaking of clean-up, the landscape maintenance professionals at Teufel are also prepared to offer wind storm clean-up and flood control measures (sand bagging) and post flood event clean-up.

Contact your local Teufel Landscape Maintenance representative to make certain that you will be covered for anything Mother Nature has in store this winter. Simply e-mail our Maintenance Division, or call our office to inquire, and an agreement will be sent to you.
