TriMet Green Line Grand Opening
Teufel Nursery was happy to be a sponsor of the “Green Means Go” opening of the Tri-Met Green Line on September 12, 2009. This event was held at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland to celebrate the opening of the east side line along I-205 from Clackamas to Gateway and then through downtown. Teufel was contracted to provide landscape for the eight stations, five park and ride lots, and along the track-way. Teufel has been providing landscapes for Tri-Met since the first Light Rail in 1986.

Water Management Part II

In the June issue we discussed the importance of supplemental watering to keep ornamental landscapes healthy, vigorous, and visually appealing. The best way to accomplish this is through a finely tuned irrigation system, monitored and adjusted by professionals throughout the season.
However, irrigation is only one of the many components to keep in mind when approaching your landscape with an eye to sustainability. From the start, if plant material is selected that is native to our region or at least our weather pattern, there is far less need for supplemental water.

Fall Feeding
Why fertilize a healthy green lawn in the Fall? You may have heard this piece of advice from salesmen, landscapers or farmers in the past, but does it really make sense? After all, the grass is pretty much finished growing for the season by October and the last thing I want to do is encourage more mowing when it’s raining outside. Besides, holiday shopping is a lot more important than lawn care. The fact is there are many great benefits to a generous fall feeding sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
